While Homewood is often portrayed negatively, Homewood is full of heart.

There's greatness here. Positive ideas in the works, art in the making, important conversations happening, and love surrounding. 

The only thing that was missing?

An open-air space for gathering, cultivating, and celebrating what have here, bridging gaps where people may not have connected otherwise.

Meet the humans behind kenny's

Founder

As a Homewood resident who’s worked and volunteered in the neighborhood for over 12 years, I wouldn’t be pouring my heart into anywhere else. 

Homewood is home. When my daughter Journey and I take walks, our neighbors say hello, ask what Journey’s newest trick is, and are simply friendly in ways you won’t find anywhere else in Pittsburgh. 

Homewood has too long been forgotten. It deserves more, and I was lucky to be in a position where I could work with the community to do something about it. 

Through an unlikely friendship with a man named Kenneth (Kenny) Stubbs and an outpouring of support, we turned a vacant lot into a vibrant celebration space bringing Homewood (and beyond) together.

I fell in love with the Homewood community in 2016 while working with the Homewood-Brushton Business Association to help business owners retell the story of their neighborhood from the inside out. 

Homewood's resilience captivated me. 

I learned of Kenny's mission as part of this project and assisted with communications for the original crowdfunding campaign. Inspired by the energy of the space, my connection with Kenny's blossomed.

When I'm not running my own business, I'm helping Kenny's share the story of Homewood and breath life into our slice of land through events and programming.

Our Location

7401 Tioga Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15208

DIRECTIONS:
Please note, Tioga Street is a one-way running from West to East (off N Homewood Ave) and
N Dunfermline St is a one-way running from South to North.

This means, it is difficult to get to Kenny's directly from Hamilton Ave or N Braddock Ave.

To best access Kenny's, coming from the west, turn onto Tioga Street from N Homewood Avenue
and you will find us two blocks in!

If approaching from the east, you can turn into Finance St, then onto N Dunfermline St 
and you will see just past Faison Elementary!

BUS ROUTES:
Kenny's is very accessible via PortAuthority bus routes.

74 - this bus route runs along N Homewood Ave. You would get off at the Finance St stop. 
Then walk east along Finance St for 2 blocks to N Dunfermline St and turn north. Walk one block and arrive at Kenny's!

71D Hamilton - this bus route runs along Hamilton Ave. You would get off at the Sterrett St stop.
Then walk east along Hamilton Ave for 1 block to N Dunfermline St and turn south. Walk one block and arrive at Kenny's!

EBA (MLK Busway) - this bus route runs along the East Busway. You would get off at the Homewood Stop.
Walk down the steps and to Finance St. 
Walk east along Finance St for 2 blocks to N Dunfermline St and turn north. Walk one block and arrive at Kenny's!


PARKING:
Free street parking is available on Tioga St and N Dunfermline St.
